History:

Harrison, New York, was founded in 1696 when John Harrison, an English Quaker, purchased the land from the Siwanoy Native Americans. The town was originally part of the Connecticut Colony, but its boundaries were later confirmed as part of New York. Primarily rural for much of its early history, Harrison developed slowly, with agriculture as its economic base. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the arrival of the railroad and improved transportation transformed it into a suburban community. Today, Harrison blends its colonial heritage and historic estates with modern residential neighborhoods, businesses, and schools, making it a desirable town in Westchester County.
